From exploring tectonic landscapes and desertification to building confidence in conversational French, your curriculum will be brought to life!

Your itinerary will be bursting with activities hand-picked by our team of former teachers, delivering a valuable, curriculum-relevant trip.

The Marrakech region is ideal for combining geography and MFL. Here, you'll explore desert margins, water management and rural–urban contrasts in and around the Atlas foothills. Day

1

Arrive in Morocco

Meet your Tour Leader at Marrakech Menara Airport.

Explore the historic medina with a guided walking tour including bustling souks, narrow alleyways and Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech’s lively main square. The tour will be guided in both French for language students and English for geography students – a great introduction to Moroccan culture!

End the day with dinner at your accommodation or walk to a local restaurant.

Day

2

Cooking Class and Medina Walking Tour

Begin at Le Jardin Secret, a traditional Islamic paradise garden featuring fountains, 19th-century architecture, and lush greenery.

French students will continue with a language workshop and learn about the city’s history and key vocabulary for the cooking class ahead. Geography students will explore the city to get their bearings.

Next, head to a cooking class to learn about traditional Moroccan cuisine. Local chefs will teach students in French or English to make the perfect tagine bursting with local spices. While their dishes are cooking, students can learn to make authentic Moroccan mint tea to enjoy with their delicious meal.

Continue the medina walking tour (guided in French and English) to see the traditional souks, the old Koranic School, and Koutoubia Mosque.

This afternoon, you’ll have the option of visiting Jardin Majorelle.

After dinner, spend the evening at Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech’s famous central square, bustling with street performers, storytellers, musicians, market stalls, and traditional food vendors.

Day

3

Berber Village and Aït Benhaddou

Language students will spend the morning at a French workshop learning key phrases, grammar and vocabulary to use during the trip.

Next, you’ll head to the High Atlas on the Tizi n’Tichka Pass travelling through the gully-eroded fold mountain landscape before visiting an Amazigh (Berber) village where students can immerse themselves in local culture against a backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. The time spent in rural areas offers the opportunity to contrast development and equality compared to life in the city. Language students will learn about the Berber language and its cultural significance in Morocco while picking up a few key phrases.

Continue your journey to Aït Benhaddou. The majestic UNESCO World Heritage Site is surrounded by desert landscapes, which blend with the mud-brick architecture. Your guided tour will be in English (for geography students) or French (for language students).

After dinner at your accommodation or a local restaurant, enjoy an evening of Moroccan storytelling.

Day

4

Atlas Mountains

Start the day with a short hike in the Atlas Mountains, a great destination for geographers to marvel at deep valleys and high peaks built and carved over millions of years. Here, students can learn about how plate tectonics, then erosion from glaciers and rivers have influenced the Atlas Mountains.

After a picnic lunch, take part in a community project. Instructions will be given in French for language students and English for geography students.

Day

5

Home

Travel back to Marrakech for some free time to explore the city before your flight home. Students can take this time to reflect on the differences they’ve seen in both geographical landscapes and the use of language in the communities that they’ve visited over the past 5 days.
